FAQs

Common Questions

Is therapy confidential?

Yes, therapy sessions are confidential and provide a safe, non-judgemental and trusting space for open communication and healing. The only time a therapist may be required to breach confidentiality, is where you may be at risk of harm to yourself, harm to others or you tell us you have broken the law.  We will of course be completely transparent and in most circumstances, sit beside you and support you whilst arranging for more specialised support in a more urgent situation. We can talk more about this in your initial free consultation to alleviate any concerns you may have.

We use encrypted coded storage systems to hold information about you, so no-one else can access your data and we of course conform with GDPR guidance.

Online sessions will provide a dedicated space where there will be no interruption's and sessions are generally held via zoom.  The therapist will send you a link and you click this link to join the session, it really is very simple. If you are new to using the internet, we would be more than happy to support you to get set up online prior to your session.

In person sessions will take place in specific therapy rooms which will be safe, confidential and where no interruption's will be expected (with exception to fire alarms etc).  We have access to a variety bookable rooms throughout North Devon but can discuss this in your initial consultation.

How long are therapy sessions?

The duration of therapy sessions may vary based on individual needs, but typically lasting 60 minutes.

What issues can therapy address?

Therapy can address a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship conflicts, and personal growth challenges.

We specialise in grief, loss and historical trauma however, can discuss your needs when we meet and consider how we might be able to support you.

We work with various partner agencies across North Devon so if we are unable to support you, we can signpost you to other organisations that may be able to offer more specialist support if this is required and of course with your consent to do so.

What happens in my initial 20 minute free consultation?

This consultation provides space to discuss your needs, for you to ask any questions you may have and to get an idea of whether therapy is something you feel you would like to pursue with no obligation.  However, it also provides a forum to see if you feel you could work with the clinician you meet and consider your requirements ie online, in person, difficulties or access requirements.
If you feel you would like to proceed following this consultation, we would send you a contract to sign which would outline our agreement and once you have returned this, we can book our first full session.

Payment is due 24 hours prior to the consultation and no bookings are made until payment is received.  â€‹

What do I expect in my first session?

When we meet, we can run though the contract to check you are happy with the content of this which consists of your personal information, payments details, data storage, confidentiality of information etc.

We can then briefly discuss your needs and agree what your therapy will look like.  ie Will it be an open session for you to bring whatever you wish each week, it could be you struggle with anxiety and we can plan specific interventions with a focus on goal setting.

We can then talk in more detail about your concerns, worries and how many sessions to initially plan for.

Whatever your needs, you will be in control of the sessions, at your own pace each week.

We could book ad hoc sessions or you may feel you would like to book a set time and day each week, fortnightly or monthly.

We provide 1-1 therapy sessions and soon will be offering group interventions
